Pelican Feeding
Marine Parade
The Entrance
Fisherman's Wharf
Woy Woy
Pelican feeding is conducted at daily at The Entrance, Memorial Park from 3.30pm.
Be early and watch as the pelicans arrive earlier, eager for a feed. A
special area has been built where the pelicans gather each afternoon,
waiting to be fed fish donated by the local fish shop. This gives the
feeding officers an opportunity to locate and treat any injured birds.
The pelicans often get injured from swallowing fish hooks, getting tangled
up in fishing line and swallowing plastic bait bags. There is an educational
talk given with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and take photos.
It won't take long to find out why The Entrance is known as the pelican
capital of Australia.
A little lesser known of the two is Pelican Feeding
at Woy Woy. Located opposite the Fisherman's Wharf, the pelicans are feed
at 3.00pm daily.
